Masai Mara National Reserve

Aberdare National Park lies north of Kenya’s capital
Nairobi, at a three to four hour drive.

Kenya has a
cold season from June to November with average temperatures of 20°C during the day. Nights can get cold during this season, so it’s best to take a sweater.

Mid-October to November is the short rainy season, after which temperatures rise up to 30°C during the day from
December to April. April and May come with showers again as this is the long rainy season. It normally doesn’t rain throughout the day as one sees sunny mornings with rain clouds building up towards the afternoons and evenings.

In general the weather in the Aberdare National Park is cooler, since it’s a mountain area that lies at 1,000 to 4,000 metres above sea level. The area can also be very misty, so make sure to have proper clothing for these conditions.

Aberdare National Park is good to visit all year round. Have fun!

Maasai Mara National Reserve

The world-famous Maasai Mara is Kenya’s most iconic safari destination and one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves. Endless golden plains, dramatic sunsets, and incredible wildlife encounters make the Mara a must-visit for any safari enthusiast. Bordering Tanzania’s Serengeti ecosystem, the reserve is renowned for its spectacular landscapes and unrivaled game viewing throughout the year.

Covering approximately 1,510 square kilometres, the Maasai Mara is home to an astonishing variety of wildlife and offers some of the best safari experiences on the continent. Whether it’s your first safari or your tenth, the magic of the Mara never fades.

A Wildlife Lover’s Paradise

The Maasai Mara is one of the few places in Africa where you have an excellent chance of spotting the legendary Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—in their natural habitat. Vast herds of wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, cheetahs, hyenas, and countless bird species also roam the reserve.

Between July and October, the Maasai Mara becomes the stage for one of nature’s most extraordinary spectacles—the Great Migration. Over two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross from Tanzania’s Serengeti into Kenya in search of fresh grazing, often braving dramatic river crossings filled with crocodiles. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest wildlife shows on Earth.

Rich Culture and Heritage

The reserve takes its name from the Maasai people, whose vibrant culture and deep connection to the land have shaped the region for centuries. Visitors have the opportunity to learn about traditional Maasai customs, visit local villages, and gain insight into one of Africa’s most celebrated cultures.

Beyond its wildlife, the Maasai Mara offers breathtaking scenery, from rolling savannahs and acacia-dotted plains to winding rivers that support an abundance of life. Every game drive reveals a new story unfolding in the wild.
